Two weeks out
Confirm move date and crew size. Forward mail with USPS. Update address with bank, employer, IRS, DMV, and any subscriptions. Book elevator at both old and new building if applicable. Begin using up frozen and pantry food.
One week out
Confirm parking permits if needed (your mover should help with this). Pack a 'first-night' bag for each family member. Pull together important documents (passports, deeds, medical records) into a labeled folder you'll personally carry.
Two days out
Defrost and dry the freezer. Drain gas from lawn equipment. Disassemble anything you've decided to handle yourself (we recommend leaving this to the crew). Charge all phones, cameras, and tools.
Move day
Walk the crew through the home. Show them which items need extra care. Keep water and snacks accessible. Do a final walkthrough before the truck pulls away. At the new home, direct boxes to rooms — your crew will follow your lead.
